What is the plan for the Software Development Engineer in Test role?

As a Software Development Engineer in Test your test tasks and stories are planned and executed like development tasks and stories, and you automate tests that can be reused on every change. You are generally a thoughtful, analytical problem-solver that can add a unique perspective to the team in terms of identifying potential roadblocks and dependencies early in the process.


What will you do as a Software Development Engineer in Test?

• Work with product, development and business teams to identify appropriate test coverage and create test data as necessary.
• Automate Tests for API level interfaces both functional and performance.
• Automate Tests for interactive applications on various browsers and platforms.
• Automate Tests for native applications on iOS and Android.
• Perform impact assessment on proposed changes to ensure that all dependencies, issues and risk have been correctly identified and are proactively monitored and managed.
• Work with the project team to provide accurate estimation of testing activities within a sprint lifecycle.


What do you know that makes you a great Software Development Engineer in Test?

• Previous experience in a similar SDET role.
• Experience with various testing frameworks / tools, such as: Jmeter, Gatling, Selenium, Cucumber.
• Experience with writing and maintaining automated test suites.
• Experienced with Ruby (most desirable), Java, PHP, JavaScript.
• Desired automation frameworks with proven experience: Watir, Rspec, Cucumber+Ruby , also ok if Selenium, Cucumber+Java
• Ideally they have been writing whole tests suits from scratch themselves.
• Has used version control systems. Ideally you will have used Git with git-flow / Git with github flow.
• Should be interested in automated functional/regression/AB testing/performance testing

Bonus:

• Experience with scripting language (VBs, JS, Bash or PHP).
• Experience with Performance Tests of Web Applications & Webservices.


Salary £45k - £50k based on experience with bonus & an excellent relocation and benefits package.
