What is the plan for the Senior Network Engineer role?

The Infrastructure department provides a highly available performant platform supporting their customer-facing activities globally. Within the IT department, the network team designs and maintains their global network infrastructure. Collaborating closely in cross-functional teams, the network specialists play a critical role in designing and delivering the platform for their business success.

What will you do as a Senior Network Engineer?

You will be required to help lead a team of Network engineers. The main emphasis is to own and maintain the global network infrastructure. You will be required to manage technical developments and participate in setting standards as required.
As Team Lead you will need to plan and direct the network team with regards to the architecture, design, system performance and security of our global network.
Perform regular appraisal of team members.
Participate in cost analysis and budgeting.
Configure, maintain and monitor network equipment across globally distributed data centres.
Design, setup and configure complex switching environments.
Ensure network fabric security and availability.
Manage routers, firewalls, switches, load balancers, security appliances.
Research and implement new technologies and products.
Participate in the Out-of-hours support rota.

What do you know that makes you a great Senior Network Engineer?

 Experience in a similar Senior Network Engineer position.
 Experience in a large e-Commerce Organisation.
 Extensive experience as a Network Engineer (CCNA/CCNP).
 EIGRP, OSPF, BGP, IP subnetting.
 VLANs, STP, LACP, VPC.
 Security: Firewalls, DDOS mitigation, WAF, L1-7 defences.
 VPN Technologies (GRE/IPSec/SSL).
 Cooperative, engaged, learner, teacher.

Salary circa £45k - 50k based on experience with bonus, an excellent relocation package and private healthcare.
