You will lead a team and technical function that ensures the delivery of an effective, efficient, and productive environment which can cope with the fluctuations and demands of the business, within the confines of policies and budgets.

This is a 100% office based role.

What will you do as a Lead Engineer - IP Network?

•Supervise and manage technology, infrastructure and functions underpinning the company IP Networks, focusing principally on the service provider core network and associated services, either virtual or physical. The scope of functions under direct responsibility and accountability are:

•Communication service provider (CSP) IP/MPLS network: provider, provider edge, route reflector, …
•Internet peering: IPv4/6 private, public peering and exchanges.
•Data centre connectivity: DC Fabric, aggregation, spine, leaf, gateways, …
•Network security: infrastructure, perimeter, distributed denial of service, intelligence.
•Analytics: probes, collectors, brokers, and interpreters.
•Monitoring: key performance indicators, metrics and trends.
•Authority on architecture, tier-3 / 4 support and other supporting activities for all networking functions throughout the organisation. This may include complex implementations and operations, guidance, and strategy. The scope of functions are Enterprise networks, Fixed access networks, Customer access, Telephony networks and Television and broadcast networks.

•To lead the planning, development, design, engineering, architecture, integration, testing, acceptance, optimisation, and implementation activities of the technical function.
•To strive for 100% availability of the customer-facing service.
•To operationally maintain and continuously improve the technical function.
•To be responsible and accountable for the quality and performance of the technical function.
•To coordinate and ensure security aspects of the technical function.
•To lead and manage the delivery of projects within the specific remit of the technical function.
•To be responsible and accountable for drafting, collating, and maintaining a repository of documentation in relation to the technical function.
•To define and execute multi-year roadmaps that align with the technical strategy and business objectives.
•To operationally lead and supervise one’s team.
•To be responsible for the drafting of individual appraisals.
•To uphold good governance and ensure compliance with standards, policies, and procedures.
•To support operational counterparts in relation to the specific remit of technology and/or infrastructure:
•To assist operational teams in determining the correct material resources, systems, and training to perform their duties adequately.

What do you know that makes you a great Lead Engineer - IP Network?

•8+ years of demonstratable experience in CSP IP/MPLS networking.
•Previous experience in an internet service provider company is essential.
•Expert-level understanding of protocols (BGP, OSPF, ISIS, EVPN, SR, …) and security.
•Solid understanding of cloud concepts and software-defined networks: public, private and hybrid.
• Experience with Juniper (mandatory) and Cisco (desirable). Other manufacturers would be advantageous.
• JCNIE or CCIE qualified. Equivalency will be considered.

Salary £70k based on experience with bonus & an excellent relocation and benefits package.
