What is the plan for the European Risk and Compliance Manager role?

Manage the Risk and Compliance Function for the Insurance Company in Gibraltar and an Insurance company in Malta.

What will you do as a European Risk and Compliance Manager?

Proactively engage with Senior Management to support them in understanding and managing the company’s risk and in meeting the company’s compliance obligations.
Support various departments in identifying risk (quantifiable and non-quantifiable)
Facilitate the review and on-going monitoring of risk and compliance frameworks and policies.
Ensure a robust risk and compliance control framework is in place.
Facilitate the completion of the risk assessment processes, ensuring regular follow-up and reporting on improvement/remediation actions.
Review and re-definition of risk appetite statements (annually or more frequently as required).
Oversee, monitor and perform analysis on the risk incidents and near misses and embed the process across the entity.
Maintain and facilitate review of the Malta and Gibraltar entity level risk registers.
Assist with delivery of risk training and awareness to help embed the risk management practices.Assist the Operations Manager to ensure risk and compliance staff training is identified, delivered and recorded, to meet regulatory requirements and good practice.
Identify opportunities for developing efficiencies and effectiveness within the risk management/compliance framework.
Schedule and deliver all risk and compliance reporting to the legal entity risk/compliance oversight committees and the Board and Group.
Prepare for and participate in internal audit and external party examinations such as regulatory visits as may be required.
Identify and assess the compliance risks associated with the organisation’s current and proposed future business activities including new products, new business relationships and any extension of operations or networks on an international level.
Establish written guidelines for staff and service providers on the appropriate implementation of the laws, regulations, rules and standards through policies and procedures (Compliance Manual), maintain all compliance polices and supporting infrastructure.
Monitor compliance with internal policies, procedures and guidelines by performing regular and comprehensive compliance risk assessments and testing, report the results on a quarterly basis to the board.


What do you know that makes you a great European Risk and Compliance Manager?

Minimum of 4-5 years’ experience working in a risk management function (operational / insurance background preferred).
Experience of Risk Management under the Solvency II framework would be advantageous.
Experienced in Risk Appetite, Risk and Control self-assessment and incident management.
Strong analytical, negotiation and influencing skills.
Highly motivated to deliver in a results focused environment.
Desirable:
Qualification in Risk Management e.g. PRIMA, GARP or willingness to undertake a risk management qualification and/or Compliance qualification such as ICA Diploma.
Technical knowledge of, or experience in insurance regulation and legislation would be an advantage.

Salary 75k - 80k with bonus & an excellent relocation and benefits package.
