RecruitGibraltar are currently helping our client who is an expanding company in the insurance industry to find a Senior Management Accountant to help head up the accounts department in Gibraltar. This role will suit a commercially aware management accountant who is keen to make the step up for a junior Financial Controller role with 9 months. In view of this expected progression you must be confident in your technical accounting skills and have the personality to build a small accounts team.

The role itself would be very hands to start with (reconciliations and big data reporting), with the successful candidate striving to automate as many processing/reporting tasks as possible allowing for greater strategic focus on business growth and core financial reporting. This individual will form part of the company management team and will work very closely with the IT and Claims department.

Responsibilities:

Transactional - Posting sales and purchase invoices, Posting bank statements, Credit card refunds
Month end - Producing and posting sales bordereaux for standalone and add on products, producing commission statements, Posting the monthly claims bordereau, Posting salary journals, Accounting adjustments – Accruals, prepayments and non-current assets, Balance sheet reconciliations, Variance analysis
Reporting - Collating and distributing partner SLA and claims files, Management commentary
Pricing - Competitor analysis, Pricing adjustments
Budgets and Forecasting - Producing the annual budget for Directors approval, Producing the last annual forecast, liaising with marketing department on sales forecast and cost of acquisition.
Audit - Liaising with external auditors to produce the statutory annual accounts
Adhoc - Management requests, Failed payment collections, Claims and underwriting analysis

Experience:

3+ years experience as a management accountant producing management accounts.
Part or fully qualified ACCA / CIMA.
Previous experience in using accounting systems.
People management experience preferred.
Commercially astute and aware.
Advanced excel skills are a must.


Salary circa £35k - £40k
