RecruitGibraltar are currently helping our client who is a very successful local company and are looking to recruit a Financial Controller for their Property Division. The role is a business facing finance role and will report on all Property Development accounts and lead the business partnering; drive the decision support, lead on the service culture, and deal with operational/ commercial business units for the Group. This role is the link between Finance and multiple parts of the business. You will be an integral member of the leadership team providing financial insight and support, robustly challenging decision making and driving continuous improvement in business performance.

You will add value through your intimate understanding of the business areas you partner, your ability to contribute to business performance and your ability to align the requirements of the Finance function with the business need. The role will be responsible for aspects of management reporting and financial control for property development contracts, contributing to overall strategy and performance of the contract to meet agreed objectives.

Duties:

• Develop, implement and monitor control systems, policies and procedures working closely with the various project managers to ensure development accounting services and records are robust and secure, including joint reporting systems with the separate financial commercial team.
• Ensure that the accounting for all scheme developments accurately reflects the financial position of the development, whilst ensuring the commercial development team are informed. Firstly the monitoring and review of contracts, budgets and forecasts, including variance analysis and exception based reporting. And the second major part of the job will be to support the development and review of new business proposals, ensuring budget provisions align with activity plans and contract requirements.
• Identifying / Evaluating business opportunities, risks and issues and assessing their financial implications
• Involvement in month end reporting - analysing information and challenging the business
• Responsible for preparation of contract quarterly forecasts, annual budget and input
• To proactively support and influence contract management
• Preparation and monitoring of performance improvement plans
• To understand and report on contract risks and opportunities
• To review and monitor WIP and over-measure balances
• Prepare monthly contract performance schedules, including profit & loss, balance sheet and cash flow together with commentary and analysis.
• Work with operational management on the preparation and delivery of business plans, budgets and quarterly forecasts.
• To implement and own a robust contract forecasting process.
• Monitor financial & non-financial KPI's focusing on contractual profitability issues, commercial risks, working capital and related cash flows.
• Engaging with the leadership team in their partner area and the finance function to agree the services to be provided by Finance Developing and maintaining a network of relationships within their partner business area to keep themselves informed and up-to-date on business developments and enable immediate engagement when action or support is needed. Representing their partner business area within the Finance function, and vice versa, in order to facilitate mutual understanding, alignment and the prompt and effective resolution of any issues arising To safeguard the assets of the contract and ensure adequate and appropriate controls

Experience:

ACCA qualified or similar you will have experience in property companies
Experience in property development companies preferred and of management reporting and financial control for property development contracts, contributing to overall strategy and performance of the contract to meet agreed objectives.
Excellent ability to communicate finance to a non- finance audience is key, as is having technical finance knowledge.
You will have strong interpersonal and negotiation skills, with the ability to build rapport in a warm and engaging, approachable but challenging manner.

Salary £50k – £60k based on experience with a relocation package and private healthcare.
