The role of Java Developer is responsible for developing high quality software end to end; the incumbent will be involved in all aspects of the software design lifecycle but primarily will be responsible for the delivery of code required by the design presented.
Specific responsibilities Java Developer:
Perform coding using best practice.
Proactively Investigates, analyses and fixes reported defects.
Works to continually improve code.
Consistently demonstrates drive and enthusiasm.
Strives to improve processes and standards to meet changing demands.
Supports Business Systems and wider Business colleagues to execute system improvements within chosen field of expertise.
Keeps up to date with industry standards and best practice in programming.
Makes extra effort to help support teams and end users – “goes the extra mile”
Work with key stakeholders to deliver new functionality early and incrementally.
Perform maintenance programming and correction of identified defects.
Communicate with other departments (to educate support staff, manage releases and communicate changes) Identify inefficiencies and where necessary implement changes to fix the end to end development process.
Provide prompt resolution to live incidents.
Forges strong relationships with BIS, business colleagues and key stakeholders.
Essential skills/attributes Java Developer:
Java 1.6+, Spring and Maven.
Demonstrable Software Development experience.
Knowledge of common design patterns.
Experience or knowledge of Scrum.
Ability to code software according to published standards and design guidelines.
Flexible attitude, ability to perform under pressure.
A commitment to quality and a thorough approach to the work.
Pragmatic approach to problem solving.
