What is the plan for the IT Manager role?

This is a role that mixes your ability to be hands on with hardware, one minute and making board level presentations in the next. You will be responsible for the migration of existing systems, setup of new networks and associated infrastructure. You will thrive in a challenging environment and be passionate about technology and providing innovative solutions to support business needs.

What will you do as an IT Manager?

Helpdesk Support

You will be responsible for coordinating day to day support to all employees on any technology related issues. These are to include:

• Ensuring there is assistance available to all employees on technical issues impacting company equipment
• Coordinating the setup and repair of desktops, laptops and peripheral equipment.
• Configuration and support of phone systems
• Installation of new software
• Connecting equipment to company networks
• Ensuring that all procedures and infrastructure are fully documented as per company standards
• Escalate problems (when needed) to 3rd party vendors
• Monitor work emails after hours for emergencies and be available to provide out of hours emergency support.
• Advise the business on new hardware/software requirements and needs.

Network and business Support

As specialist in this area you will be responsible for overseeing the companies network, some of your responsibilities will include:

• Analyse network data to determine network usage, disk space availability, or server function
• Ensure any network or connectivity issues are resolved with the least business impact possible.
• Liaise with ISP’s and other third party technology providers.
• Oversee and advice regarding security standards or access permissions for groups and individuals
• Configuration and setup of firewalls and sftp’s.
• Document network support activities
• Support of wireless network for staff and visitors
• Installation and support of new hardware when required
• Oversee the extension of network including distribution of network cabling etc.
• Monitoring and maintenance of server room
• Advising the business on new solutions and ensuring scalability for business needs

What do you know that makes you a great IT Manager?

• Previous experience in similar role as IT Manager
• Previous experience in managing teams.
• Previous experience in setting up new networks, servers etc.
• Experience and knowledge of private branch exchange phone systems.
• Familiar with variety of operating systems and hardware.
• Programming experience will be advantageous
• Experience in delivering technical products will be favourable
• Knowledge of Active Directory, Networking, MS Exchange, MS Office, Printers, Mobile Devices.
• Project Management
• Ability to setup new networks with associated hardware and software
• Working with cloud and hybrid setups.
• Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions
