What is the plan for the IT Director role?
You will be responsible for developing and driving the strategic exploitation of technology to support company growth via managing a team of 5-20 engineering staff, with a technology budget of £12m.
What will you do as an IT Director?
Provide technical leadership to our clients Digital business unit , aligning the needs of the Director of Digital & Cross Channel Services and the Group CIO
Establish very strong relationships with the Digital business team, ensuring that while it is clear the purpose of the role is to drive digital change, this will be done in alignment with core technology standards and practices
Drive cross/omni/multi-channel initiatives, collaborating fully with the Retail business and technology units
Ensure that the environments and supplier offerings are fully understood so that solutions can be found which are quick/easy to implement rather than abstract ivory tower
Recruitment, development and retention of team members, ensuring the corporate values are understood and practiced.
Leadership - create and communicate a vision for Digital Technology, ensuring involvement and full buy-in across the business & technology community and that technology programmes and service initiatives support the agreed vision.
Ensure that the Digital Technology is fully aligned with the strategy and direction laid down by the Group CIO - across all aspects of operation.
Ensure that the digital team communicates in an extremely effective method between locations, adopting a 'over-communicationí policy to ensure full transparency and understanding.
Business strategy - work side-by-side with business leaders on the development of the commercial and multi-channel strategies across all brands and business lines, providing insight into the innovative use of existing and emerging technologies that can accelerate the growth of the digital business
Define, drive and maintain an appropriate data and Cybersecurity environment and ensure that external auditors and other commentators approve its constitution. Ensure industry best practice is adopted.
Service delivery - operate a high-quality technology service across all internal and external channels, to agree budget and service level targets.
Manage all staff and budgetary aspects associated with the team and drive "value for money" IT.
Establish effective supplier and contract management, ensuring an effective sourcing approach that makes best use of third party outsourced and in-house skills.
Attract and select top talent and build a focussed and high quality team (internal and third party organisations) to provide the capability to deliver on the agreed strategy.
What do you know that makes you a great IT Director?
Educated to degree level, preferably within a business/ technology discipline.
Experience of leading technology at senior level - developing and driving the strategic exploitation of technology to support company growth.
Broad experience of managing a leading-edge IT function of scale, on an international basis. This should include the delivery, development, security, infrastructure and architectural functions. Hands on experience - not merely awareness.
Gaming, gambling ecommerce, retail and financial services experience is desirable.
Experience of managing a shared services function that supports multiple businesses.
Experience of deploying major web & mobile business solutions in an environment where technology is integral to achieving commercial success.
Track record of executing major technology change programmes which deliver significant value.
Material IT risk management and assessment experience.
Experience in the deployment of package and bespoke systems and the management of the associated software vendors.
