Job Description: |
Our client is searching for a Systems Specialist to:
• Manage and provide Storage Administration services including designing, building, tuning of storage systems. • Provide IT technical expertise to applications developers, operations, and other IT staff for systems development and production support. • Provide expert technical consulting to IT staff in the design, development of infrastructure systems to ensure a robust and stable environment. • Participate in formulating and implementing IT standards and policies to support the operational environment and business direction. • Develop all supporting technical documentation to facilitate consistency and quality of installations, systems upgrades and recovery/ repair. • Ensure the application of best practice with regard to database management in the company environment to provide a stable and robust infrastructure. • Drive and guide installation support of new and existing hardware platforms and their operating environments to support ongoing business change and strategy. • Implement and manage monitoring services and tuning the systems to achieve optimum level of performance. Review monitoring alerts and rectify issues. • Manage and provide Systems Administration services including designing, building, tuning, and backup and recovery for Solaris and Wintel systems • Provide 24/7 on-call production support. QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE Essential • 2-3 years experience of configuring and maintaining Netapp filers in mixed windows and unix environment. • 2-3 years experience of configuring and maintaining Brocade Fabric switched infrastructure. • Exposure to EMC storage technology. • 2-3 years experience of configuring and administering Linux and Solaris systems • Familiarity with Nagios or a similar Monitoring Tool • Demonstrated tolerance to high workloads and multiple changing priorities. • Demonstrated ability to solve problems and issues at all levels. • Excellent oral and written communication skills. • Ability to prioritise work load. • Effective awareness of current IT issues and technology. • Demonstrated documentation skills Desirable • Exposure to web and database solutions support • Exposure to support and development methodologies for different databases like mySQL, Oracle, PgSQL • Netapp Certification • Exposure to project management methodologies and software. • Unix Shell Scripting Salary circa 40k |
