Job Description: |
Our client is searching for a Systems Operations Analyst to be responsible for providing operational support of UNIX and SAN infrastructure. To achieve this, the job holder is required to work alongside other Systems Operations Analysts, as part of the UNIX/SAN Team, as well as 3rd party providers.
Key Responsibilities • Undertakes resolution of problems escalated from the Service Desk within the agreed timescales and in line with One IT procedural standards and policies • Undertakes documentation activities to ensure that repeatable operational processes are carried out in a consistent and pre-approved manner. • Undertakes the hand off of problems to the 3rd line teams • Responsible for escalating unresolved problems within the agreed timescales to the UNIX/SAN Team Lead. • Contributes to the provision of UNIX and SAN support and in doing so follows appropriate operational processes and procedures • Carry out Problem management to identify causes of repeating incidents • Responds to requests for service within agreed timescales • Participates in performance tuning and capacity planning activities to enhance the performance and availability of UNIX and SAN systems. • Work closely with 3rd party providers to ensure service levels are met. • Participate in a 24x7 support process as agreed separately. Knowledge & Experience • Experience of working in demanding and complex UNIX and SAN environments. • Strong verbal and written communication skills; in particular report writing and the ability to communicate technical concepts to non-technical people • A customer focused approach to service delivery • Experience of working with large scale, high volume, real-time web based applications • Strong, proven experience supporting a broad range of UNIX technologies. In particular; enterprise and open system operating system platforms, clustering, load balancing, scripting, DNS, deployment • Experience with storage technologies. In particular; storage arrays, fiber channel switches, replication, performance, monitoring, provisioning, volume management, intra-datacentre clustering, enterprise backup systems • Some experience in database backup and restore, replication, security • Good experience in web server technologies; certificates, virtual hosts, open source servlet containers, modules, SSL, re-writes • Good awareness of networking technologies; TCP/IP, VLANs, firewalls, load balancing, switching and routing. Salary 30k - 40k |
